Our little miracle
Updated: Aug 21, 2018
Hello! I’m Vikki, I’m 33 and a self-employed nail technician from North West London. I have been with my husband for 14 years and we married just two years ago. My pregnancy journey so far hasn’t been the easiest. Unfortunately, I had two miscarriages before discovering that I was pregnant with this ‘little miracle’ in April.

My first trimester has been truly awful. Because of the miscarriages, I was given extra hormones called Cyclogest and Asprin (to thin the blood). Understandably, I was on edge from the very beginning – and the worst part of this was not being able to talk to anyone about things to find out if what I was experiencing was ‘normal’. Whenever I Googled anything, I just seemed to end up finding forums full of neurotic lunatics!
We had our NHS 12-week scan, but also paid for a private test called the harmony test – everything was low risk, so that was a massive relief. We have just had our 20-week scan – time is flying too quickly. We decided not to find out the sex of our baby as we want it to be a surprise.
I have suffered with nausea from week five and am still suffering! I keep waiting for the promised rush of energy and feeling great in the second trimester, but so far it hasn’t happened. I’ve tried everything including ginger biscuits – but the only thing that seems to help is really strong ginger tea, with the tea-bag literally squeezed to death!
I’m looking forward to sharing the rest of this exciting journey with you all!
Vikki x
